Best Cellist ever ._.
Now who will play the Dutilleux =/
Oh, I don't know. I really don't.
Tout le monde lointain indeed - in a way that Dutilleux never intended, surely. Not quite sure about the greatest ever, but certainly one of the very greatest after Casals - and one who, as part of his immense agenda as a supreme musician, did far more than even Casals himself (or almost any other great cellist except Rohan de Saram) for new music as well as old, in his case both as cellist and conductor. His legacy will be with us indefinitely. But he isn't. We have to try to come to terms with that. Frankly, I have no idea how to do so. I can say no more now.
Best,
Alistair
