its not the three chords he used, its how he used them, the riffs are just the underpinning to the songs anyway - the real genius is the melody
i believe he was a greatly gifted melodist
ok , so he didnt go into erudite music, but i wonder, if he did and was brought up with erudite music, would his gift have took him to the top of that musical world too?
another thing - dave grohl is a kick ass drummer, his drum tracks are perfect, the fills and drum riffs can stand by themselves, and he always complimented the songs in the best way.
im not the biggest nirvana fan, but i recognise their greatness and importance, and i feel this is an interesting and important topic to discuss with any musical people.
