Gounods stupid Ave Maria.... It is WAY too sugar sweet for my ears...

As a matter of fact, I am yet to hear anything of Gounods that I can bear to listen to without going insane or falling asleep from complete and utter boredom.

I feel the same about Satie.

What a complete knobend he was.

I like Satie.  :(

But I do think a lot of his music is garbage. And there are too many "contemporary" composers I could name that I find insufferable to listen to (the pieces that sound like someone throwing their entire body against the keyboard). Twelve-tone is nice music (late Webern), occasionally, but I can't listen to most of it without vomiting uncontrollably.

I'm sorry for me to say, it's fur elise. I'm not saying I don't like that piece. It's just that it is played too often and that everyone knows how to play it.

virtually everything by Bartok, Barber, and (in my humble opinion) Schumann; and all atonal pieces

Everything by Bartok is bad except for his Mikrokosmos. Not all atonal works are bad if you listen to more of them.

Let's see... Bartok, Schonberg, Ustvolskaya, Messiaen and without a doubt; Strauss.

Generally speaking I don't really like atonal music, with a few exceptions of course.

This is the most insufferable piece EVER!! As much as I love dissonant\contemporary music, this takes it a little too far.

I'm just saying.

Traditional = God Save the Queen

Classical Piano  =  Liszts' Dante Sonata

Debussy's La Plus Que Lente runs it close for me.  This piece in some parts sounds like bad jazz - and I detest Jazz more than any other music - well, apart from rap.

All mazurkas by Scriabin. Hate them so much because they sound so dull and boring. Some of his sonatas are also abit boring but there also wonderful moments too.

Alot of stuff by Ludovico Einaudi i find insuferrable. The same melody over and over again for 5 minutes can get quite tiresome
Chopin-Waltz Op.42
Brahms-Intermezzo Op.118 No.2
Field-Sonata No.1
Beethoven-Sonata Op.14 No.1
Bach-Prelude and Fugue in B flat No.21 WTC 1

Most of the 20th century atonal works I find really unbearable now that I've seen some videos from youtube.

I'm sick to death of hearing the "appassionata" sonata. It doesn't help that most students butcher it by playing it like they have a train to catch. Also most anything that came from that twat Schumann.

Well said that man. You have obviously wasted hours in trying to find out what other people hear in his garbage.

Perhaps not insufferable but annoying to hear: anything that is over played, e.g. Chopin etudes. All the interpretations that I hear everyday are the same. I try to listen to something different everyday.

Anything by One Direction

There, I won!

Okay, okay... hmmm... How about the Last movement of Chopin's Sonata No. 2? I LOVE CHOPIN except for this single piece, which to me ruins a great sonata.
