When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”. Need more solid ground
on: December 14, 2001, 05:04:19 PM
Hi all...I am a brand new member to this forum.  I am looking for help, or should I say guidance?  I graduated from a music conservatory in So. FL. several years ago and have been giving private lessons ever since.  However, I would like to expand...I am very interested in opening my own music academy/conservatory, but have no idea where to begin.  I have heard of guilds for teachers, etc.  Can someone help me out?

Thanks in advanced

:) Welcome to the Forum!
You might begin by joining MTNA and your local chapter to network with other piano teachers.
Other organizations are also available to teachers, i.e. National Guild of Piano Teachers, National Federation of Music Clubs, etc.
Good luck

There is no substitute for networking with piano teachers who live in your area and developing friendships with other musicians.  Also, these organizations provide structure and support to your teaching.  Here are some links to a few professional music organizations which might be helpful to you--

American College of Musicians (National Guild of Piano Teachers):

National Federation of Music Clubs:
www.nfmc-music.org

Music Educators National Conference
https://www.menc.org/

Good luck!  :D
