Topic: Difference in form beetwen classical symphony and classical "piano" sonatas?  (Read 1560 times)

Generally the symphonies (of haydn and mozart) have 4 movements but it seems the sonatas has three movements and that the minuett movement is often left out. Is this correct? If it is or if it´s not, does anyone know a source where that I can quote or read up on it?
