My two favourite recordings of “Poema singelo”  are with the late Brazilian pianist Arnaldo Estrela (“Antologia da música brasileira” vol. II – Festa) (This may be difficult to find outside Brazil)  and with Cristina Ortiz (Villa Lobos: Piano Music – Decca) which you can buy here:

You can also try these:

Heitor Villa-Lobos : Piano Works. 1991. Etcetera KTC 1123. (piano: Alfred Heller)

Piano Music of Villa-Lobos, Vol. 3 (piano: Alma Petchersky)
You can buy this one here:

Hommage a Villa Lobos (piano: Miguel Proença). Have a look here:

Heitor Villa Lobos – Complete piano music vol. 4 (piano: Debora Halazs) – Bis

I hope this helps,

Best wishes,
Bernhard

*BUMP*

I just finished cleaning up some bad noise on some recordings I had, and I'm posting here if anyone's interested. The first file is a studio recording by legendary brazilian pianist Guiomar Novaes, playing several underplayed piano works (circa 1950-60), and the second is a Villa-Lobos only program by pianist Cristina Ortiz, still performing nowadays (live non-commercial recording, taken from her recital on Florianópolis, south of Brazil, on 2003).

+- 90 meg
https://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0PX7GWVFK9MO70QVUTGFVHTD8E

contains (roughly translated):
Arnaldo Ribeiro Pinto - Public Speech (from the Lost Images suite)
Gottschalk - Triumphal Fantasy on the Brazilian National Anthem
Guarnieri - Prelude n. 30
Mignone - Old Theme (from Six Transcendental Studies)
Nobre - "Samba Matuto" (from the First Nordestinian Cycle)
Otávio Pinto - Children Scenes
Souza Lima - Impromptu n. 1 (on the theme "Sereno" by Tupinambá)
Villa-Lobos - Guia Prático
Villa-Lobos - The little Pierrot's play-horse (from the Children's Carnaval)
Villa-Lobos - Branquinha & Moreninha (from the Baby's Family)

+- 17 meg
https://rapidshare.de/files/6523219/Cristina_Ortiz__live_Florian_polis_2003.rar.html

contains (roughly translated):
Villa-Lobos - A Lenda do caboclo (the landworker's tale)
Villa-Lobos - Festa no Sertão (an outdoor party)
Villa-Lobos - Impressões Seresteiras (Impressions from the nightlife)
Villa-Lobos - Valsa da Dor (waltz of sorrows)

these are extremely rare, keep them for yourself.
And tell me what you think

Thank you for the files :D

These are indeed rare, especially the Guiomar Novaes' one.

However, I am not sure how to open them. Which program do you use to open ".rar" files?

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

I like these pieces a lot - does anyone have the music for them? are they part of a set or just random programming? (thanks for the recs)
