Ok, Bob, you had a great idea.  All interested persons should take a look at the time at the top of the page.  Calculate how many hours + or - of a difference there is between the clock here and the time that it is where you live.

Ok, everybody let's meet at 3 am on Saturday the 19th.  But don't fret, because I mean 3 am on the Piano Forum clock (at top of page). So, right now, calculate the time difference to your own time zone.  Now, add or subtract that number from 3 am on Saturday the 19th.  That's what time we are meeting.  Maybe we should have another one for 12 hours later, so that Bernie and the other Europeans can join in.  How's this?  Feedback, please!

DUH on me!!  LOL--I have no idea why I said that!  Yes, I mean tomorrow (Friday) nite at 10 Eastern, 9 Central, etc etc.  Same as last week.  Because we are all too confused to set a different time!  LOL  So I guess that we are "stuck" with this!  I would like to ask a question (I believe that this is the 3rd, possibly the 4th time--LOL--but who's counting, right?!) but who was it that changed the name of the room?  Whoever it was--please send me a private message explaining how you did that.  I need to know, because I want to try something, and if it works, it will eliminate the mass confusion that was caused by my being booted.

If you were NOT at the last chat, then I need for you to send me your AIM screen name, or else you are going to be sitting there twiddling your thumbs while wondering when on earth you will be invited into the room.  You won't be, unless I have it.  Send via private message here at the forum.  Log in at 10 Eastern time, and just hang tight until you see an invitation.

 T'will be a blast!!!

Well nerd, I think people's inability or lack of will to learn anything new is more annoying than your desperate attempts to promote an objectively better protocol for chatting.  AIM is for yanks, IRC is for Finnish losers having their lame antisocial clubs behind the back of the God.  To correct something about the commercialism misunderstanding here;  IRC is free and in itself non-beneficial activity, whereas AIM indirectly supports a megacorporation.  But blindness only affects inside one's field of vision.

Such strong statements!  I agree with all of them, but most people probably won't care whether they're supporting a megacorporation or not.  I use AIM all the time regardless of this.  Also, back when the stockmarket was good, I made lots of $$$ off of AOL, so it's all good.

In any case, Janice, AIM would be fine for this chat.  I should be able to make it this time.  But in the future, if these chats will be occurring regularly, then it would be good to have a more permanent (and reliable) medium.  The IRC idea proposed by nerd is a good one.

Sorry to hear that, donjuan :(  I've been meaning to write a post and ask where people were.  There were 5 of us, but nobody was there that was there the week before (except for donjuan).  We had a good time--sorry you missed it!  Me, I'm not in the mood to deal with IRC--too much work.  If you guys want to set it up, go ahead.  Just let me know if you did and how to do it.  Actually, I see nothing wrong with an AIM room. I kinda like it :)

btw--someone asked me for someone else's screen name.  I wouldn't give it out.  I just don't do that because I feel it is an invansion of that persons privacy.  I'm really into respecting a person's confidentiality.  That person completely understood where I was coming from.  So.....if you don't mind someone else contacting you via AIM, please make sure that it is in your profile.

Nils, so when are you gonna join us? :)

Once more ;D

Have you tried it? It's probably less work than creating an AIM account and downloading and setting up AIM software (because you don't have to create the account). The room/channel is ready and I started another thread where I described three ways to connect step-by-step.

The thread is here:
https://www.pianoforum.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=misc;action=display;num=1088092593

Right after creating the room I found out that chopinfiles has it's own IRC room which is more or less alive (has some chatters). You might want to try that, too. The room is located at:
- server: irc.internetnu.net, port: 6667
- channel: chopinfiles

Janice,

Sorry to have missed it! I was called into work that evening as the other person and called out sick. I didn't forget, just wasn't home. Will there be another one next Friday at the same time? Please let us know.

Thanks....Hope to make it next time!

     Recipe for Chili

Brown 2 lbs. of ground beef in a skillet, with a large chopped up onion along with 1 tsp. minced garlic and 1 Tbsp. chili powder (I use 2 Tbsp)

Add 2    29ounce cans of Brooks chili beans and a large can of tomato juice.

Simmer for at least 30-45 minutes

Stir once in awhile (whenever you feel like it!  lol)

Yup, it was a spontaneous idea that I had to post a recipe for chili!  I did it as a joke because Shagdac asked me how my chili turned out, I thought "Huh? I never said a word about chili!!!!" So I went in the kitchen and grabbed the first chili recipe I could find! LOL

Janice......

Don't you remember??? :D It must have been on 6/23 or 6/24 or one day before the chat....I was online at home doing something and you instant messaged me letting me know about the chat Friday night. We went back and forth very briefly, as you said that you had to get off and eat your chili! I'm serious...don't you remember now? Guess it must have been around dinner time....I signed off, and told you hope your chili turns out good. Maybe you don't remember as my user name for my home computer is different. But you came on and asked if I was Susan.

Hope this jolts your memory.....either way, looks like I have a new chili recipe! Hahahahaha! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

sorry i couldn't make it... i'm in Europe, and 9 pm Central Time is 5am in Romania... not good.
We should have sessions in the morning US Time, so that all people around the world could come in. For example, if you have it at 8am Pacific Time, then you can have people from all America and Europe, but if you have it at night in USA, then all people in Europe are asleep...
I know it would be harder, but school is out, and most of us don't work in the morning... and it would get more people together (hope...)

Ok, it sort of rings a bell now.  LOL  I picked it up from the deli, though, and it was getting cold.  Haven't made it in awhile.   But I was left scratching my head, thinking "what on earth...? ? ? ?"  LOL :)  :)  :)

Yes, that does help!  Most of us don't crawl out of bed before noon--lol.  I've kind of gathered that from talking to most folks from the US!  (You lazy bums--lol.  Just kidding.  I'm not a morning person, either!)  So if we had it on Saturday, noon, central time, that would be 9pm for you, right?  How does that sound?  Feedback!!  Hey Bernie, what time would that be in England?  We are dying to talk to you!!  But you would need to download AIM. (If someone insists on using something else other than AIM, then you will have to convince everyone else.  Personally, I think AIM is great--we can create our own chatroom,it works as a permanent sort of thing, etc.)  I know that whatever time we pick will be bad for at least one or two people, but I'm trying to get a time that is convenient for the majority of Americans and Europeans at the same time.  Personally, I won't be able to stay much longer than an hour if we start at noon on Saturday (US, central time).

Feedback?

Nobody has said anything!!  Again, feedback please!!  Tash, I am soooo sorry that I forgot to ask you if that time would work for you, cuz u were at the previous chats!  Maybe we should try and get some others involved.  Bitus expressed a desire to chat.  Bernie, what about u?  I know that you don't have AIM, but u can download it in 2 minutes!

Saturday is fine for me... noon Central Time?
Also, people who don't want adds from AOL, can go on the Aim.com, and select the AIM Express option, which is a online thing, and you don't download anything, and get the same features.

How about if we just stick with AIM rather than AIM express?  In my case, I don't think that I should download anything else on my puter--I already have alot of stuff.  Also, most people here already have AIM.

Tash, I think that we are all ultra confused here, so why don't you try to get ahold of me on AIM, ok?  You're on my buddy list.  Since we are way too confused, it would be better if we "talked" over AIM than trying to figure things out here.

Janice asked me to clear things up a little bit on AIM and AIM Express...

The two are essentially the same program, they have the same core features and capabilities. The difference is that AIM is a program you download and run off your computer, and AIM Express is a script you can find on www.aim.com. You don't need to have any programs installed on your computer to run AIM Express, so if you're at work, a library, public computer, whatever, and you would like to chat, you can run it straight out of internet explorer.

I prefer using AIM when I can, it's more convenient if it's on the computer, and has more powerful features. AIM Express is just a matter of convenience.

oh the insanities of time. righto this is how i'm going to determine what time it is everywhere. those interested in being part of this chat, just write a message here saying what time it is was what day and then we can compare it to everyone else's by looking at what time our computer says it was written at, and then what time it supposedly is. for example i'm writing this at 2.30pm on friday arvo, so for my computer cos i put it in2 sydney time it'll say 2.30, but then cos that's different for everyone else it'll reckon i wrote it at some other weird time. and then i can work out the official time differences eventually.

ok so starting off it's what i said above (give or take like a minute)

if this makes sense then put your times down now!

No, no--I meant that it was 5:53 am GMT.  So that would be ACCORDING TO THIS CLOCK.  GMT is 6 hours ahead of what it is here.  Anyway, I'm confused! LOL

***How about if we chat on Saturday morning, at 11 am CST/noon EST.  Bernhard is going to be there!!  That's an incentive to get out of bed!! I am 100% sure you mean 12:00 P.M.

Uh... err... I don't know what you're talking about.

This is the time for those of you living in the states:

12:00 PM Eastern
11:00 AM Central
10:00 AM Mountain
9:00 AM Pacific

Yeah, that's what Peachy said--12PM (noon).  I don't know why your quote says 'AM'.

Let's not get confused folks!!

Tash, I haven't heard from you.  Can you come?

For anyone who hasn't been to our chats before, you need AIM.  If you have it and want to chat, send me your AIM screen name via private message at the forum.  I will add you to my list, and tomorrow at the time listed, log in, and I will send an invitation to everyone to go into one room, so we can talk there.

T'will be a blast!

It says AM in the quote because that's the way it was originally, but Peechy went back to change it to avoid having to eat the other foot. ;D

We'll look for you anyway, Tash, because it might even run for a couple of hours (who knows), so check to see if I'm still online.
