glissando help
on: July 23, 2004, 01:15:53 AM
I'm working on a piece, and it has this gliss that starts on D6 and D7, and then descends, and somewhere in the middle (around middle C) I'm supposed to switch it to my LH to finish on octave C1 and C2 as my RH starts in with the melody while the gliss is finishing. How can I do this without killing my fingers (it's almost impossible to use only nail - I have very small hands)?? And how do I make it smooth?

When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

well it shouldn't be too hard to play just with your nail on a white-note gliss. just remember that you don't have to put a lot of pressure into it to get the sound out......it's gonna b loud enough anyway just cuz of all those notes bein played at almost the same time and less pressure should help you keep your skin outta the keys. also, if you're not doing it already, play the RH part with your thumb and the LH part with your 3rd finger.
