Try searching in a reference library or a university library near you.  If they don't have it, ask about interlibrary loan.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

This is one of the rules I have seen enforced the least. People seem to always say this, but I never see Nils remove said posts.

Indeed, I have only seen it enforced a couple of times. Pehaps he does not know unless it is reported.

Drawing attention to yourself in this manner has always seemed strange to me.

Not to me. A lot of people do not check their PMs often, especially if they don't have the pop-up notifier (or email notification) enabled for when they do get a PM.

"Couldn't find the score in my area" seems to me to be the most unlikely excuse, since the internet respects no geographical bounds... you can buy these scores from amazon.com, for what is definitely a reasonable price, considering all the time you are going to spend practicing it, if you really want to learn it.
