Chopin-Liszt - Three Polish Songs, op.74

three transcriptions from chopin's polish songs... maiden's wish, spring, and my joys.
this is from a live concert on a rather junky yamaha baby grand, at a polish lodge "Pope John II Cultural Center." it was in the style of a dinner theatre, with a little stage in front of a bunch of round tables.  people didn't dine *Thankfully* but they were able to drink cocktails at their table... which i'm ok with.

Thanks for posting these, I am currently listening to the first one.  I would not have thought you are playing on a junky piano of any sort; that's certainly not what I think about when I'm listening (until you point it out).  I hear great music and playing .

You're right.  that was first-class playing on a junky piano.  Here, again, though we see how the instrument, itself, is secondary when you've got an artist playing on it.  Once you get used to the sound, it really doesn't make any difference, does it?   I wonder if that little crowd realized how lucky they were to hear you play these little gems.  How did it feel to play on a dinky piano?  So many times you hear pianists trying to get more out of the instrument then it can offer.  You made friends with it and it obeyed your every whim!  Really wonderful playing.

Those Chopin songs were all charming--a delight to hear.  I especially liked "My Joys" at the end. Excellent playing!  You drew the maximum out of the piano without ever over taxing it.

I know that Chopin himself transcribed "Spring" for his friends.  Were the other two songs also transcribed by Chopin or by other arrangers?

I don't know where the Pope John II Cultural Center is, but wherever it is, they got grade-A-fancy entertainment there.  I used to have a phonograph record with Moriz Rosenthal's rendition of "My Joys" on it.
