I whish.. to gather in my house in Rome my friends of Piano Street, organizing a musical happening/recital: many of you live far away, I know, and it's an impossible dream: but it would be such a great thing to have you here, playing whatever you like....

Well, I will be in Northern Italy from July 5th-25th at a Festival, but there is a day where there is only planned a possible excursion to Venice, and that is optional.  I don't know what the days on either side of that look like, but I see that Rome is about 6 hours (driving) away, which would be really pushing it for a day trip alone.  But, I can't help but think  .

Marg:  If everything goes well, I should be in London in Oct/ Nov on my way to and from Malaysia.  I'm going to spend a few days before heading to Malaysia and a few days on my way back to Canada.  But London is a good distance from Rome so I don't think I'll be able to meet you, only in spirit.

Littletune: You seem quite confident in your recitals.  You'll do well!  Don't worry!

It seems that some people on this forum simply cannot leave Valentina Lisitsa alone, for some reason; we already have one thread devoted to being in love with her (which has little to do with piano playing or repertoire) and now this thread's become infected with some more of the same; I seem to remember that she's also featured in the "attractive pianists" thread AND she keeps appearing at London's Royal Albert Hall at the head of the thread lists page. Yawn...

Cause I just got back and felt the forum to be a bit "clean". Then started participating again, suddenly my "troll sense" seem to trigger quite more often than I expected. Any old piano will do, I doubt I can afford the actual ones that old Fred played on

10ths don't occur very much in well known classical music do they, Chopin2015 ? Do you play a lot of stride and swing ? Those styles are full of them. However, bear in mind that a straight tenth in those idioms isn't nearly as rhythmically interesting as broken tenths, either up or down, anyway. What you do in those styles, isn't really rolling but rapid jumping with the first note played prior to the beat, not on it as many people try. This creates a very exciting rhythmic counterpoint impossible to achieve by playing straight. I can actually stretch all tenths but for that reason hardly ever do. So I wouldn't bother worrying that you're missing out on a lot.

It's in ballade no 2, I know most people just roll it anyways. That particular 10th is not indicated as arpeggiated, and the following one is. So I am pretty sure it has something to do with the texture and harmony in that bar.
