I wrote a research paper on his "Quartet for the End of Time" and used this book in my research: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0521585384/qid=1095434414/sr=ka-2/ref=pd_ka_2/104-6960537-5507122

While the quartet isn't a piano work, the book does have a lot of information on Messiaen's style.  Unfortunately, most of the other books about Messiaen seem to be out of print and I don't know of any books on just the piano music.

I'm learning about his 'modes of limited transposition'..the octatonic is quite cool.

Naxos has now recorded all of Messiaen piano works (played by Haakon Autsbo ) However the definitive recording is arguably by Peter Hill (who had the composer’s blessings). You can read a review here (as well as information about the pieces):

https://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/fridayreview/story/0,12102,786407,00.html

You can read about his life and most important works here:

https://www.classical-composers.org/cgi-bin/ccd.cgi?comp=messiaen

A complete list of Messiaen’s works can be found here:

https://people.cs.uchicago.edu/~pradyut/messiaen/

And if you google “Messsiaen piano works” you should get over 30 000 entries :P. This should keep you busy for a while! ;)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

I've never played anything by Messiean (by the way, his first name is Olivier, not Oliver), but I love what I have heard of his music-- especially the Turangalila-Symphonie -- a concerto-like work for piano and orchestra lasting an hour and 20 minutes.  I've also heard Quartet for the end of Time and some of his organ works.
It's GREAT to be a classical musician!
