College Audition List
on: September 26, 2012, 04:37:03 AM
Hi, I plan to audition for colleges (not like super good schools such as Eastman, Juilliard...etc), and I was just wondering if these pieces are enough for college level auditions. I understand that the difficulty of the pieces don't matter, and it's how well the player plays them. But I am just still wondering if these pieces meet the standards. So as always, 4 different repertoires Baroque, Classical (1st movement), Romantic, Etude.

Baroque: Prelude and Fugue X BWV 355 by Bach
Classical: Sonata in A minor KV 310 By Mozart
Romantic: Songs Without Words Op.19 No.3 by Mendelssohn
Etude: Etude Op.25 No.1 by Chopin

Thank you

It looks Good! I would suggest swapping the Mendelssohn for something more substantial, also most colleges ask for a 20th-21st century piece as well.

Well, the schools ask for a 19th or 20th century piece, and I like playing 19th century pieces more that the 20th century pieces. These pieces of music were picked out by my music teacher, but we are still open to suggestions to the repertoires~~ so what do you suggest for the romantics instead?

Hi, it would really depend on whether you are applying for a Bachelors of Arts or Music.
