Learning to love classical music
on: October 26, 2004, 09:20:45 PM
Hi,
My friend's mom makes her take classical guitar lessons and she does not enjoy playing the classical music she is assigned, being more of a rap fan. I was wondering what pieces/recordings would be nice for me to give her and walk her through so she could begin to enjoy classical music. I would like to avoid pieces such as Fur Elise and Moonlight sonata that have become hackneyed as I introduce her to this wonderful world of music. Thanks.

What's wrong with the Moonlight?  It's one of the most exciting sonatas ever written.

No doubt it is, but i figure she has already heard these "popular" pieces and would like to expose her to some of the real innerness of classical music that may spark her interest
