Alkan Op.39 sheet music
on: September 25, 2013, 05:24:14 PM
I dont want to print that many pages on the printer at home, and some of the ones on IMSLP arent great quality.
So does anyone know where I can get a book (or a set of books) with op.39 in it?
I found one on a site that had just no.8-12 for $91 USD. I am not willing to spend that much for the music.
And yes I do intend to learn the music from this set. Maybe not right now. But within the next year i plan on starting the looooonnnng process of getting the whole opus done

Dover publish a collection that includes the Symphony and Concerto. Billaudot publish the remaining ones as individual editions. You'll probably save a little that way. The Dover isn't bad, but there are a few small errors in it.

Could you give me a link?
And what kind of errors?
Wrong notes? Or smaller stuff?

In my edition, there is one line missing from the treble staff for half of a line in the opening movement of the Symphony. Also in the same piece, there is an incorrect accidental.
Nothing major, but irritating. I haven't gone through all the rest, so there may be more.
Billaudot can be ordered through
SMP
. Their editions are not too bad, though they seem to still be using the original plates.

Thanks!
I'll probably get that one
The main one I want to start very soon is op.39 no.11
My printer cuts off the bottom bass line of every page. I didn't notice till page 25/29 and I got angry. But hey, at least I have some of the music!

39/11 isn't in the Dover book. From 39 it's got the Symphony (4-7), The Concerto (8-10) and Le Festin (12).

Right, sorry I see where I was a bit confusing.
I'll get that book as well as one with op.39 11
