Carl Smulders - Piano Concerto (A min) 1892
on: March 26, 2014, 10:58:33 PM
I've been looking for the score of this less-known great concerto, but no luck. It's a great piece, it grows on you after listening to it for a while, and should be better known.
I'm aware there's a youtube recording that plays with a score (not in great quality, and most of the orchestral part isn't included), but I'm interested if the full orchestral score can be found/bought anywhere, or even a more complete 2-piano version. Thank you!

The work is no longer copyright, so you should be able to order a copy from a library, although I have not checked at Worldcat.
I have an original of this in 2 piano format and it has been scanned. I am assuming it was not used for this youtube recording as I did not share it publicly.
I will have to check with the kind man that donated the score if it is OK to share.

Thank you thalbergmad
I'd be very grateful for that 2-piano score, given if it's in your power to share it, but I understand if it's not possible.
If you wanna take a look at the youtube video I was talking about, here:
It's one of those scores where the orchestral part is heavily condensed/removed and only the most prominent parts for the second piano are written, rest is cut out. (Not that in this concerto is the orchestral part that interesting anyway, regrettably.) I'm hoping yours might be in better quality than that.
I've been thinking that in the end, the piece might be viable to be played as a solo piano piece, if only one has an audience properly adjusted to its morbid Lisztian style that runs throughout most of its length...
