Hey Awesome_o... As of right now, I don't unfortunately as I want to try and get into the music arranging business legitimately. I know my arrangements are good enough to merit being published, but trying to get Disney's attention (in this case) hasn't been too positive.

I already tried to submit the score to them and they gave me some BS answer about how they can't accept arrangements from people, despite the fact I know it's better than their arrangement.

I'm keeping it for now. If I do end up being told that there's no way I'll ever get the published, I'll just throw them onto the internet then... but for now I like being the only one who can play it - same with my Pirates of the Caribbean medley.

I've got a couple of 'melodies' but they're not that good. I excel very well at the arranging part, but the composition part - not that great.

Good job. I can't stand the piece but I do like your treatment of it and enjoyed listening and watching.  Better than the original I'd say as the movie version and vocal covers send me running lol

As for publishing. I think you might find some traction and direction if you write Jarrod  Radnich.  He and his people seems to have connections and good business relationships  w the IP owners.  He might be able to give guidance on how he got connected w the right people in getting licensing rights the you simply self publish, seems like that is what he did and it's served him very well. Also Harrod seems like a super nice decent dude and is likely to want to help vs some corporate robot shooting down requests when they are not even in real position to judge talent or grant real access to key decision makers

It won't be easy to make money off of the lucrative IP of other artists, the high quality of your arrangements notwithstanding. Jarrod Radnich seems to have figured out the way to do it, and he's definitely your go-to man in this department.

Yeah... I did try writing to Jarrod in 2011 and never got a response. I also wrote to him not that long ago in the hopes of getting another response... won't hold my breath though.

Good ( that you have thought along these lines).  Do not give up .  Keep arranging. I might also add you should try arranging public domain stuff and getting it out there too.  Keep writing to Mr Radnich. Also try to ensure you write. Physical letter vs just email or similar.  Send the letter via certified delivery requiring signature confirmation so you know who received and when.  Keep arranging. Write to other arrangers.  

I do not know of many others from top of head but it would help to try guys like Chip Davis of Manheim Steamroller fame.  

You might also try to hire a manager or music publicist or simply pay per consultation for professional advice from someone who works at this for a living is a good idea too

Try some of the publishers of graded lit too like Alfred .  For video games brush up on Japanese as you would need to connect with Yamaha and KMP and Doremi.   Don't give up on making it your habit to bug the hell out off the IP owners too.  


You only fail when you decide an unsuccessful attempt if your final one.  And keep asking since ea time you do not ask,  The answer is no.  

*do not forget to ask if you pay for consult on how to self publish if possible and how to apply for licensing rights to CR material

Very classy arrangement! As to publishing it, I wish you luck! I, myself, made a piano solo arrangement of Rachmaninoff's Eighteenth Variation in 1997 (to my knowledge, the first which was "faithful" to the piano/orchestra original) and it has been downloaded thousands of times from the Internet. I never intended to sell it, but to share it. A few years after I uploaded my arrangement (which can be found on IMSL website --- Loveridge version), another competent arranger (initials "R S") published his own version----almost identical to mine. Now, there are several arrangements which are available for free from the Internet. The sad reality is that even if you succeed in getting your work published you still have to accept that many (dishonest) players will provide free copies to others on the Internet. But, I guess SOME profit is better than none!

I also have uploaded my arrangement (actually, a "tweak" of the original) of Grieg's "Morning" (Morgenstimmung), which also is free to download on IMSL. Again, I'm not interested in profiting from it, but enjoy sharing.

Still having an overdose of this piece as it is the favorite of my 1 year old granddaughter ... she listens to it a dozen times a day ....  but your arrangement is refreshing and yes, for me it "feels" better than the original arrangement.

The life of a pianist or a musician for that matter is definitely very difficult.  I just wish my son (Enzo) will be lucky enough with the breaks when the time comes.  Good Luck and best wishes.

Some good advice and comments... I guess I'll just keep plodding on with what I've been doing and hope that someone notices. Maybe I need to be more active with Twitter and stuff to get my music out there.

I'm sure I've just got to use it more efficiently.

Well done. This is every bit as good as the Radnich / Landry type arrangements. Good luck to you. If you get as far as publishing, do take professional advice as copyright etc is a complete minefield.
