Dear all, I am bad at sightreading (although more or less good with technique), and I would love to improve my sightreading playing some easy and romantic stuff :)

Last time I played 2nd movement of Beethoven moonlight sonata, which is more or less easy to sightread.

I would be very grateful if you suggest me one or more pieces from the romantic repertoire (Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Chopin, etc.) which are easy to sightread.

Thank you very much!!!

Chopin preludes. There are 24 of them and they vary a lot in level, some of them being extremely simple while others are rather difficult. They're very short pieces and would probably be great for sightreading. And of course they're extremely romantic!

I'd rephrase that as "some being rather simple while others are extremely difficult" ;-)

hahaha thanks for the pieces of advice ;)

I tried the impromptu but i am sooo bad reading jajaja time for time, tomorrow i will try the others, which seem not simpler, but at least more slow :) the impromptu loses the melody if one plays it slow.

There's a couple of easy grade Schumann pieces on the side.
I would advise against the Chopin preludes.. more often than not they're very difficult, especially to read.
What I would recommend are the Chopin mazurkas- get the complete set, they're somewhat like mini Chopin waltzes. Great little miniatures to read, and will get you used to chopin dance forms to prepare you for the waltzes, polonaises, and scherzos.
The other advantage is that many Chopin mazurkas are quite beautiful- I find myself coming back to many daily; #18 in C minor is a personal favorite.

Playing one or two easier romantic pieces will probably not improve your sight-reading much. Why not just get a collection of easier romantic style etudes and read through them.

Because etudes are generally about the least sightreadable pieces there are.  I agree about the number of pieces, though. I'd suggest one of the countless "Romantic Easy Piano" collections out there if you can afford/obtain one. Otherwise look for pieces on the grade list on PS.

I should have written EASY etudes...Like Burgmuller op 100 or Gurlitt op 130... Not Chopin or Liszt :)

Piano reductions for opera scores can be good practice.  They contain elements which allow you to work on specific sight reading related skills.  Repetitive accompaniments make it easier for you to work on read-ahead techniques as well as develop your repertoire of accompaniment techniques.  Key, meter and tempo changes help you distinguish important structural score elements.  Playing the vocal parts at the piano can help with open score reading.  The frequent use of variable score systems trains you to not take the standard 2-staff piano score for granted, and quickly locate the part you want to play.  Plus, you get a lot of material to work with for a single opera.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I gave a few pieces for you which are generally easy to sightread. But dont forget that every time that you're trying to bring something new from sheetmusic to the keys, you're training sightreading.
So just keep on practising pieces that arent beyond your technical capabilities, and you'll do fine.

Sorry I couldn't answer yesterday.

Thank you very very much for all the recommended pieces and advices! :)
I had never never thought about piano reductions for operas, but it seems an awesome idea. I will try it soon.
Yes, gyzzmo, that's why i wanted "easy" romantic stuff, i wanted to deal with sightreading troubles, not both sightreading and technique troubles.
Thank you for your time and advice!!
