Lovely Mozart Sonata
on: August 04, 2015, 04:19:07 AM
Hey everyone, what do you think of Mozart's K 280? Here is Barenboim's rather good interpretation.

I think that it is perhaps a little under recognised and really quite charming. I would also say that given it's relatively modest difficulty it should be considered by more pianists at the intermediate level, it's quite good music for relatively little trouble. I plan to play it after I finish up on K 545 (yes, the cliched one, sue me)

The second movement is beautiful.
I made an account and hadn't used it in a year. Welcome back, kevon.

I love the Uchida recording of this sonata

Also yeah I think it's definitely a good next sonata after 545. Although it may stretch you a bit
Repertoire:

Beethoven Sonata Op. 10 No. 3
Chopin Etudes Op. 10 No.7, Op. 25 No. 2
Mendelssohn Rondo Capriccioso

I may look into the Uchida, thanks.

Also I'm not sure it will be that big of a stretch really, perhaps I now play simpler pieces but that's part of my philosophy on piano playing, not because I'm limited to that level and I looked at the score of k 280 and didn't see anything scary at all. But I'm sure the piece will offer it's fair share of challenges and learning experiences. They all do.

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
