What is an ossai? this word appears on my music sheet on top of one of the bars. This music sheet is available on imslp. Thank you.

Ossia, which I believe is what you meant, is an indicated passage that may be played instead of the passage given. Typically, it's given either as an easier version, a revision of an already published work, or sometimes, when composers just can't make up their damn minds
