A very short fugue on a holiday folk song
on: September 30, 2016, 02:23:47 PM
Hi!
Guess most of you don't know, but next week is Rosh Hashana - the beginning of the new jewish year.
Anyway, I had a weird dream last night that someone was playing a fugue based on two themes from two Rosh Hashana folk songs (yeah, I sometimes dream about fugues... too much Bach before bed I guess), and when I woke up I tried writing down the fugue from the dream. Guess those stuff usually sound better in the dream haha
Anyway, here it is, if you care to listen :)
Happy Rosh Hashana!

this is fun, glad you shared it, i like fugues and i particularly like folk tunes, so this was a treat. you should totally learn it and record a video of your playing of it, you may find as you learn it you'll refine or change things, or add baroque style ornaments, and add dynamics.

keep on doing this sort of thing! :-)

i really like the 'modern' fugue on newer tunes type of style, here's a fun one, you might have seen this, it got really popular

Haha, this one never gets old! I really like these sorts of things too - nothing beats a good fugue.
There is a youtube channel called artofcounterpoint with lots of these - they're really awesome :)
