Technical work at your Conservatorium?
on: August 06, 2019, 12:47:54 PM
Hi All,

I'm curious what, if any were the technical work requirements at your Conservatorium/University?

In my first and second year we had technique exams on certain scales, arpeggios, double octaves. We also had to prepare 4 of Brahms 51 Exercises from a set list. 2 would be picked at random. All had to be done from memory.

In my 3rd year we were required to prepare etudes as part of our repertoire. Same in second year for exams.

How does this compare to your experience? I'm curious if this is common, uncommon etc ?
