Octaves in Beethoven Appasionata
on: April 24, 2020, 03:35:34 AM
Hello friends! I hope you all are doing well! This is my first post on here, so I apologize if I say anything wrong or cringey  :-\

I have a question about how to convincingly play the legato pianissimo octaves sections in the first movement of the Beethoven Appasionata (more specifically, the right hand in the second theme and the recap). It is very difficult to play the octaves legato and pianissimo while still keeping the 16th note rhythm precise. I am never able to play these melodies as smoothly and lyrically as the music entails, and it is all too easy to accent random notes that completely destroy the phrase. I was wondering how one would go about learning these passages convincingly. Thank you so much!
