Haydn Piano Trio No. 39 "Gypsy"
on: December 02, 2020, 07:26:28 PM
The Piano Trio No. 39 in G Major, Hob. XV/25 by Joseph Haydn is nicknamed "Gypsy" because of the "Hungarian/Gypsy" themes in the Rondo finale.

I have noticed that many (but not all) ensembles play the first movement too fast, Allegro instead of the marked Andante.

The string parts are based on a Tomplay recording.

0:00    I. Andante
6:45    II. Poco adagio, cantabile.
12:12   III. Rondo all'Ongarese: Presto.
