Video - Liszt Mephisto Waltz 1
on: May 03, 2021, 11:22:42 PM
I started working on the Mephisto Waltz about 2 and a half weeks ago and thought I’d record it and see what anyone thinks. Slight disclaimer - the audio’s not great, also please excuse my mistakes and messy passages ;D but let me know what you think and if you have comments about my (developing) interpretation!

I find it to be very impressive and rather intimidating that you've been able to learn it to this standard in a couple of weeks, honestly.

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Wow, thank you! I generally find Liszt to be quite intuitive and easy to memorize; I also wasn't really practicing other pieces during this time which contributed to the fast pacing. I feel like this piece isn't quite all it's cracked up to be - most of it is comfortable for the hands (besides those infernal jumps at 9:09 :P) and it's just a matter of building up speed and not making so many mistakes.
