New Piano Market Statistics: Inside the Quiet Transformation of Piano Playing

For those of us who spend our lives on the bench — whether teaching, practicing for a recital, or simply playing for the love of it – the piano has always been a singular concept: wood, felt, strings, and soul. Yet, recent global market reports reveal that the definition of our instrument is expanding and evolving in ways that affect us all. Read more

Hi there, first time on this forum as a poster though I've been on here numerous times over the years as an observer. I love this community!

I am working on my ARCT as an adult (coming back after 10 or 15 years off the piano), and have 5 of my pieces picked out and largely ready so I am finally ready to choose my last, my List C, which is also my favourite era. As those of you familiar with ARCT know, there are requirements around having a balanced program which are a bit subjective in nature, and my teacher is on a personal leave so I am looking to choose and start working on my List C but would love help from this group. Here is what I currently have:
List A - Bach Partita 1 in Bb Major (
) Prelude, Sarabande, and Gigue
List B - Schubert Sonata in A Major Op. 120 (
)
List D - Rachmaninoff Prelude in G Minor Op. 23 no. 5 (
)
List E -  John Ireland's The Island Spell (
)
List F - Chopin Etude Op. 25 no. 1, "Harp" (
)

For my List C I am mainly deciding between 3 options, and am open to any recommendations between these (or others) to round out my program:
1. Chopin Berceuse (
)
2. Clara Schumann Romance in G Minor Op. 11 no. 2 (
)
3. Schubert Impromptu Op. 90 no. 1 (
)

Thanks so much in advance!

Sorry what is your question? You want help choosing a piece from the final three videos you posted?

Yes, exactly. I realized only after that I probably shouldn't have two Schubert pieces so I am trying to decide between the Chopin Berceuse, the Schumann Romance in G Minor, or any others from the ARCT syllabus List C (starting on page 101) https://rcmusic-kentico-cdn.s3.amazonaws.com/rcm/media/main/about%20us/rcm%20publishing/piano-syllabus-2022-edition.pdf

Thank you!

Interesting that those three are your choices. The Berceuse is considerably more difficult technically than the other two. In terms of character however, I think the Schumann differs the most in character from what you already have, so it could be a better choice if you want to round out your program more. What do you think?
