Hi, I am recently preparing for a major competition recording, and I am deciding the repertoire, here is the repertoire that has been decided:
Beethoven sonata in C minor Op.111: I
Chopin sonata in Bb minor Op.35: I
Prokofiev Toccata in D minor Op.11
At this point I am trying to add one of the following:
Bach WTC Book II: prelude and fugue in D major BWV 874
This will bring the repertoire to largest chronological range, and showcase my interpretation in contrapuntal music, even though in Beethoven there are some.
Debussy Etude XI pour Les arpeges composes,
This will showcase my softest impressionist touch which is kind of absent in other repertoire, but I am just worried that in general impressionist is a little more controversial in interpretation and hard to sound “clean” for recording round.
In case that I can only choose one due to time limit, Any suggestions?
