How hard is Debussy L'isle Joyuse
on: October 24, 2024, 04:31:02 AM
Hi all. Ive been practicing Debussy L'isle Joyuse for about three weeks now, and it wasnt as hard for me to learn as I was told it would be - actually it was rather straight forward. I can play it through reasonably well now. Anyways I feel like I am missing something. Is this a piece that gets harder after you've done 97% of the work? Or will it be relatively "smooth sailing" from here. (I have three more weeks to prepare the rest of it for an exam - am i in trouble) (aditionally I am a first year conservatory student and have not taken played any exams yet - what should I excpect) :)

It's straightforward.  Debussy's music comes straight off the modern piano.  It's not like Chopin, with his Pleyel piano, that takes so much finesse-ing on a modern grand.

Probably depends on what tempo you are going for ;) But Debussy often feels pretty comfortable under the hands IMO
