the sound machine
on: March 04, 2005, 08:59:44 PM
by Roald Dahl (yes, again)
"I like sound..." the story starts out. The protagonist, Klausner is a mad scientist and wants to build a machine that would transform inaudible high frequencies so people could hear them. He does. It looks like a coffin. It is a large black box. He takes it outside and first only hears humming noises coming from the transformer. But, as soon as a neighbor cuts her roses, he hears shrieks (each time a rose stem is cut).
how's that for extrasensory.

do you know why benches fall apart? it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them. hint: buy a bench that does not hinge. buy it for sturdiness.

I thought it was because plants (chlorophyllic ones) like carbon dioxide.
