chopin prelude favourites

im gonna learn a prelude next and want some opinions as to which is the best, not regarding difficulty which do you think i should try. cheers

The best one?  Hard to say my friend.

If i were you id learn num 7 and 8 or num 15 and 16 although num 16 is very very difficult.

Then again, that's the ONLY Chopin prelude I know...

No. 24 is my favourite (extremely difficult though). I also like the op. 45 too, the c# minor.

I personally like the first prelude in C major, it is not hard, and only a page, but w/e it's really fun and sounds really pleasing...  Also, umm, the Eb minor it's so stressful lol I love it...  D minor sounds like a ship in water during a storm, well a storm....That one is great too, but kinda difficult and once again I cannot play the third's run in it...G major is great and quite 'undifficult' it is not extremely easy because the version I got did not have fingering...Left hand is tricky without fingering.  B flat minor is great but the difficulty of this piece is crazy...  I also like G sharp minor aka 'duel'... there's a few try them.  O ya Raindrop and C sharp minor, that's like half of them lol try them out!

Do #6 in B minor.  It's only a bit over a page, and technically is very simple, but it's a beautiful piece, and voicing it properly can be hard.

No. 16, No. 16!!!!!!!!  It's the most exciting prelude ever!

I agree with pianoman. The 16 prelude is my great favourite , but i think it's the most difficult too! You should try the 4 that is very popular , or maybe the 15 , they are both very beautiful , and very simple too ^^ ( not as 16 -_- )

Go for either 3, 4, 7, 15 or 20- these are the best known preludes.
But I also recommend 1, 6, 24, 16, 17, 18, 24 and Op.45 in C#m too.
#3 has a hard left hand, but the right hand is simply a piece of pie.
#4 has large chords on the left hand with an easy-peasy right hand
#7 is the easiest of them all.
#15 is the most popular and the longest, also belonging to the easier preludes
#20 is the funeral march- only 3 great staffs.
I've heard #s 1, 6, 24, 16, 17, 18, 24 and Op.45, but I havn't seen their scores yet, but these also sound as nice as the famous #s 3, 4, 7, 15, and 20.
#s 3, 4, 7, 15 and 20 are relaxing and belongs to the easier preludes except for #3, while 1, 6, 24, 16, 17, 18, 24 and Op.45 are quirky energetic, all belonging to the more difficult preludes. Which one do you choose?
