Moskowsky piano concerto!!!

I just found it on pianosociety.com ... And OMG, i just LOVE it. I don't know why it don't get more attention. Seriously, I really love this work. Do anyone know where I can find the sheet music for it?

No doubt it is a great concerto, and alot of fun, but I think compared to other concerti of its genre, it is a bit 'precious,' by that I mean it is a little superficial.

There's a great one in that Hyperion "Romantic Piano Concerti" cycle with Piers Lane. Moszkowski is coupled with Paderewski, which isn't such a bad concerto either. I enjoy the Moszkowski considerably, but like all Moszkowski, it's fun to listen to for charmingly elegant bounciness and the occassional neat idea (and usually good melodies), but there isn't a whole lot beyond that. Still, that isn't to make it sound bad at all. I find it similar to the Saint-Saens concerti myself, though I'm sure there is a more accurate comparison to be made. I don't care much for the pianosociety.com recording though, I have to admit...

Speaking of it, the entire series has a bunch of gems from Moscheles, Dohnanyi, Pierne, Balakirev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Vianna da Motta, Holbrooke, Wood, Stojowski, Litolff, and more. They are all great piano concertos in their own right. Highly recommended. For those in the US, BMGMusic has a bunch of them on sale for $1.99, others are $5.99. That's a true bargain.

Holy cow! That sounds like it! On Amazon.com (really the only place I can buy Hyperion discs, considering I live in Houston...) they're still at the ungodly price of $21.99...

It's a fun concerto, if played correctly, but not deep or anything substantial there. The Paderewski mentioned above is a much more substantial concerto, full of melodic invention.
I also urge anyone investigating the Hyperion romantic concerto series not to overlook Medtner's 3 concerti (2 and 3 together, the 1st coupled with the piano quintet). Major masterpieces there and great performances too.
