Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2
on: June 01, 2005, 07:50:08 PM
I'm trying to play Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2. It may be to difficult with my skills, but I've decided to at least try. I've not come very far, but a particular part has proven to be especially difficult to get right. It is the part (which in my case is on the 3rd page) where you play the "theme" (if you can call it that) together with G# on both sides. I really can't emphasize the theme enough to make it possible to hear. Do you have any advice on how to do this right? Will the problem solve itself when I manage to play it fast enough?

This is not a question of technical difficulty, and will NOT come with speed. It is a musical problem, and you have to be able to balance your finger's strength to do proper phrasing. This is NOT a question related to speed. You may play it at unbelievable speed, but still it would not be ok. So you have to balance finger's strength. See a teacher for further explanations.

That is probably the most difficult part in the "1st" part don't know what it's called, but even harder would be in the Friska when there's sort of like a pedal point I guess with high C# and your playing melody below, I have the piece in a book, and just tried, I played badly but stopped right there, my hands get dead tired, but probably also because I didn't study with a teacher, just tried on spare time on my own for a couple of days nothing serious.
