Polonaises and Rhapsodies
on: June 04, 2005, 04:10:02 PM
which are the easiest and hardest of the Chopin Polonaises, and which are the easiest and hardest of the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsodies?

Also, which are everyone's favourites. I love the Chopin Polonaise No. 4 in C minor... or the Military (No. 3 i think). And the Liszt HR - No. 2 is FAB, as is No. 6.

HR 2 and 6 are probably the most popular, but there are many others that are still wonderful pieces... I can't play any but they sound nice :P

I still love the Heroic Polonaise but it is still ' temporarily' above my level... soon soon
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

The heroic is a great polonaise. I think the military polonaise is awesome as well. I haven't played any of the liszt hungarian rhapsodies. Which one do people think is a good one to play first - not OVERLY difficult.

The most difficult Polonaises would be
Op. 44 in F-sharp minor
Op. 53 "Heroic"
Op. 61 Polonaise-Fantasie

There are a couple of easier Polonaises published posth.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Do you think the Heroic Polonaise is harder than the Polonaise-Fantasie?

The heroic is certainly one of the harder ones. i've never tried playing the polonaise-fantasie, it never really appealed to me, so i can't compare difficulties there.
