i have a very serious problem with this right now...
my superintendent told me today that i either have to move out or not play piano ever.
i live in an apt, and before i moved in, i asked her if bringing a piano would be a problem.  she said 'no, of course not' with a smile.  now, after a year living here, my neighbours just started to complain about my 20-30 minutes of playing a day, which is weird, cuz i used to play about 2-3 hrs a day in the winter.  so...now..i don't know what to do..  all i can afford are renting aptments.   :-[ and i never play before 12pm or after 8pm.
so i'm very very sad and upset.....................

Man, this is a serious problem.  The only problem I have is the urges that I get when I want to play at night.  Everyone in the house is sleeping and I just feel like playing.  I live in a small house so it'd wake up everyone in the house if I started playing.  To solve this problem, I invested in a digital piano.  It's a crappy one, but at least it has 88 keys.  The keys are barely weighted, which pisses me off, but at least I get to play.  It was one of the cheaper digital pianos.  The Yahama DGX500.  I keep it in my room and play at night or early in the morning.  I don't use it to practice on a regular basis though, that's what the piano is for.  This is just to satisfy my urge until the next day.

“Piano Dreams” - Exploring the Chinese Piano Explosion

The motivations for learning the piano are diverse, ranging from personal enjoyment to cultural appreciation and professional aspirations. While some see it as a way to connect with cultural heritage, others pursue it as a path to fame and fortune. In the movie “Piano Dreams” director Gary Lennon documents the struggles and sacrifices of three wannabe piano stars in modern China. Read more
