chossing pieces for a recital
on: June 10, 2005, 11:35:02 PM
Hullo! I'm  relatively new here but have reading the boards for a few months which has been quite informative to say the least.  ;)

Anyway, to the point. If I decide to carry on my music course next year (A level) I will need to play a 20 minute recital, which I suppose isn't alot to prepare considering it's in about 9-10 months. To get an idea of my current level I've been playing for about 5 years, though unfortunately I never took it seriously till about a year and a half ago, so I've wasted alot of time. My repertiore is limited to what I do for ARBSM exams (currently grade 6) and a couple of clementi sonatinas. After 5 years this must seem pretty pathetic but I assure you I am taking it seriously now and I do regret the time I wasted.

I've been looking and listening to some stuff such as:

Chopin nocturnes op 9 no. 1 + 2

Debussy preludes 'Dancers of Delphi' and the 'Sunken Cathedral'. The problem with trying these is that my digital piano only has a sustain pedal

Mozart Sonatas K331 K311 K279 K283

These are what I'm interested in and I would greatful to hear any suggestions of how to approach any of these pieces or if you have any suggestions yourself
I do have a teacher and I will talk to her about choices of pieces but I would still appreciate responses from you people
Thanks

Mozart k.279 and then the chopin noctures, simple enough. You probably won't need too much help.
