Franz Liszt
2 Elegies
About Franz Liszt's 2 Elegies
The two Elegies were composed in Weimar, a few years apart. No. 1, also known as "Cradlesong in the Grave" was composed in memory of Madame Moukhanoff-Kalergis, a pupil of Chopin and a leading member of Liszt's circle. Elegy No. 2 was dedicated to Lina Ramann, Liszt's biographer, and editor of his writings.
