is this a science experiment?  (puts a superglued toothpick in the bottom to make sure science experiment doesn't fail).  the last one i tried was a bottle rocket filled with water and using air pressure from a bicycle pump.  mousetrap cars are fun, too.  you can use cd's for wheels.

*spins the egg on the counter.  yeah.  it's march 20th.

You know the old trick to get an egg to stand up?  You pour a mound of salt on the table and stand the egg in the mound of salt, and when you blow the salt away, the egg will remain standing.

Anyhow, I figure you could do this and show somebody the egg stadning on the vernal equinox, and they will spend the rest of their lives trying to get the damned thing to stand up on the first day of spring.

There are some people in China that can stand an egg upright no matter what day. I remember seeing it on TV once. They got something like 70 odd in a row on a wall, all standing upright.

Many years ago I saw people in the TV standging eggs upright. I tried it (with much patience, or course). It worked a few times. Not necessarily on the day of vernal equinox.

For those who don't know Chinese, "vernal (spring) equinox" is "LI CHUN" in the Mandarin (official) dialect of Chinese. "LI" here means "establishment of", and "CHUN" means "spring (season)".

But "LI CHUN" also means "standing an egg". Here "LI" means "to stand" or "to erect", and "CHUN" is the colloquial saying of "egg".

That was how "vernal equinox" and "standing an egg" were related to each other.
