My favorite orchestral piece, and you played it!

Where can I get sheet music for Feinberg's transcription?  Did he transcribe the whole thing, or just the scherzo?

thanks to koji and kassa - i can listen with the score.  so very nice!  printed out all 39 pages.  whew.  koji!  you are so amazing!  the theme gradually comes in.  how cool.  not many people, i bet, can play this.  there's a comicalness of this piece in the beginning - it's 'too staccato' in my mind.  correct me if i'm wrong (which i could be way off), but i think the staccato is just meant to say - don't let the sound blend too much (playing the staccato as a sort of separateness and not all out staccato - like you did toward the end with more melody coming through).  still, it's really amazing!!!  i like the last parts better than the beginning.  you were more 'connected' with the piece.  that was AMAZING!

ps. do you think i can get very much piano music on cell phone recorder?  i'm so stupid when it comes to recording.  my playing is nowhere near yours, but i'm anxious to record something - and fairly stuck because hubby's equipment is downstairs and takes a while to set up.  plus, i think he sold his shepps microphones.

koji, in those pics last year - i don't think you lack for possible girlfriends.  you're just avoiding them, right?!  with your playing, you could just walk right in to the sports illustrated office and put on the sunglasses and walk off witha  model.  but, i would suggest - before you do - that you at least play one concert again close to philly.  the weather is bad here in the winter and with driving problems, i couldn't get to your last concert.  do you think, or would you consider playing at or near west chester uni?  they will be opening (or have opened) their new music building soon.  (all steinways).  suppose it's a long drive, though.  hmmm.  just a thought.

So fine keyboard work Mr Koji!

But I could have done without seeing you tackle the 10-6 with such ease...  ;D

Hi,
I liked this clip (although Tchaikovsky is not one of my favorite composers). I loved the technique. Around 8:20 there were some glissandos that I did not like. But everything else I loved.
I am an 8 year old piano student. At what age did you start playing the piano?

Nothing huge; just some doublings in places, etc.  The most obvious change is after I put on the shades, I change the single notes in the left hand passage into octaves.

i always learn something by watching you .  it's really nice to have the video as well as playing.  you are always so relaxed and i enjoy watching as much as listening.  how do u remember so much music?  especially liadov.  youmust practice a lot.

maybe instead of asking on so many threads about feelings, i should ask where you and carl cranmer get yours.  is there some kind of a feelings 'storehouse' where you can suddenly find the correct feelings for the piece.  how do you know when you put on the right one.  i mean, how did you know that fourth prelude was supposed to be sinister?  i guess you just hit on it - and it sounded right - or, do you play it many different ways and then hit on it.  i'm jsut curious.

also, you have a definate sound that is your own.  so, even though you may listen to recordings - i don't hear anything of anyone else (but, i haven't listened to that much liadov, i must admit).

The choice, order, and electrifying performance of those pieces brings positive attention to both the composer and yourself. Respect.
