Schumann - Papillons
on: August 16, 2006, 05:30:07 AM
I thought I'd share my back-in-the-day recording of the Papillons; seems that a lot of people are either intimidated by the length of this piece, or are unfamiliar with it. I admit to anyone considering adding this to their repertoire that it was tedious to learn, but FUN to play!
Yes, there are my trademark nervous flubs--I'd just come off my Beethoven Pathetique right into this, and I can hear some fatigue. And er... there was the small matter of me, in my performance angst and exhaustion, forgetting entirely to even PLAY the intro... dagnabbit!

i've never played this - but it's definately a beautiful piece. 'butterflies.' i was wonder ing if his dynamics are really that intense in the bass? was thinking i'd like to hear a little bit 'lighter' version. i like your playing and hope that you continue to express your exhuberance for schumann! thumbs nose at thal.

beautifull! I love this piece. Your recording is very good. Was it a grand piano? it sounds so nice. Your interpretation of it is also beautifull. Do you play other shcumman pieces? i love the carnival as well as the kinderszenen. If you have a chance, take a look at Nelson Freire´s recording of this pieces. Thay are absolutely fabulous, he got a very delicate touch. You are not very far from hiw, btw
