Schumann - Papillons
on: August 16, 2006, 05:30:07 AM
I thought I'd share my back-in-the-day recording of the Papillons; seems that a lot of people are either intimidated by the length of this piece, or are unfamiliar with it. I admit to anyone considering adding this to their repertoire that it was tedious to learn, but FUN to play!

Yes, there are my trademark nervous flubs--I'd just come off my Beethoven Pathetique right into this, and I can hear some fatigue. And er... there was the small matter of me, in my performance angst and exhaustion, forgetting entirely to even PLAY the intro... dagnabbit!   ::)

i've never played this - but it's definately a beautiful piece.  'butterflies.'  i was wonder ing if his dynamics are really that intense in the bass?  was thinking i'd like to hear a little bit 'lighter' version.  i like your playing and hope that you continue to express your exhuberance for schumann!  thumbs nose at thal.

beautifull! I love this piece. Your recording is very good. Was it a grand piano? it sounds so nice. Your interpretation of it is also beautifull. Do you play other shcumman pieces? i love the carnival as well as the kinderszenen. If you have a chance, take a look at Nelson Freire´s recording of this pieces.  Thay are absolutely fabulous, he got a very delicate touch. You are not very far from hiw, btw ;). Keep up !
