New Student - Electric Piano?

Got a new student who has never played piano, but hopes to stay with it.  His parents want to get him an electric keyboard, since a real piano would be a risky investment.  I think at this stage, not playing at all, he doesn't need a keyboard with all 88 keys.  Can anyone recommend a brand that has a smaller keyboard, maybe with 40 - 60 keys?  Thanks!

Hi ramseytheii!

Look at the Musicians Friend or zZounds Websites. Plenty of Yamaha, Korg, Kawai & Roland Keyboards with 66 Keys. I think 6 Octaves is the minimum for an aspiring pianist, would not recommend lesser number of keys. I myself have a Yamaha PSR 550 with 66 Keys (weighted and adjustable touch sensitiveness)  and am happy with it.

musiciansfriend.com is great....i have orderd before, i had a problem with a sounds system and they were extemely helpful and courteous about taking it back and sending a replacement.
