post your compositions here!!
on: October 28, 2008, 02:54:47 AM
Ouch, my compostion took 2 years to make and it sounds weird! Sorry, this was before I took theory lessons.  :P

Etude for Two Guitars, "The spark is gone..."
based on a text by AM Cortez, "The March 11 Bus"

I used to write lyrics too.

Now don't be shy. Post your stuff here.

Hinata Opus 1 Number 3  :o  :o

OMG! You are what composer?  Unbelievable. I can swear that It is a happy song that can relieve stress and now you got game.  :)   It did not suck.

Show your other Hinata's they are cool.
I believe you should enroll at Yamaha composers in Japan and study music theory.
Yamaha students are also good composers.

About the person on that picture who is that person. Is that a performer what was that all about.

speaking of Hinata as the title of your compositions then it is really a sunny place :)

Bravo i have listened to the Hinata and i think you already have improved since the impromtu, did you perform these pieces? your harmonic vocabluary has greatly extended since the last ones personally i felt it was slightly too long so i woul remove a couple of the repeats and i would try to make the ending carry more weight (again thats how i would do it and obviously can' tell how to make your art)

but overall i did enjoy it keep it up ;D

I will try to upload some of mine when they are finished

GREAT! I just based my style in composing in GBA game soundtracks.
Love it and no matter how repeated you play the song. You never get tired.

We'll I believe that I should compose in that style and so I compose the Hinata songs just like the way Japanese composers compose Game soundtracks.

We'll speaking of the Hinata's. We'll it was composed as an experiment for me to improve my composing skills especially when it should come in describing something.
We'll composers should know how to direct their music to the target it should hit.

We'll the Hinata's that I composed are my perception of this anime and GBA game named https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Hina then I am planning to compose up to seven of them.
So I

By the way. The hinata I posted was Hinata No.3 and hinata no.3 is Shinobu Maehara

Fine, I'm sure someone would be suspect that those can't possibly be written by the same person.

I hardly remember Love Hina. But yeah it does feel like Shinobu now that you mention it.

I prefer to relate music to words, since I still have a lot of poems not yet set to music. I suppose composers go beyond that and play with the tones on their own, in the abstract. But I looooooove lyrical music when it works out.

But we'll the good thing is that I still have Hinata no.1, Hinata No.2 , Hinata no.4

You mis-understood it somehow.
I mean that I composed a song which theme is about Love Hina.
Not spork a song or composition on Love Hina.
I mean it is originally my composition and Love Hina inspired to make that song.
I am planning to make seven and now I will almost finish seven of them.

I don't know how I finish seven of them in a month and it is a miracle but according to my calculations that If I compose constantly at that rate then  I would have finished 1200 compositions at the age of 65 and How can I imagine how many songs would I have composed then.  :o

I got something cooking. It's only half done, but here! I'll finish it soon.

Waltz in Bm "Dance of (Distortion) Destruction"
Originally for a band (distorted guitars, loud drumming and what-have-you), I transposed it in a minor key and transcribed it for solo piano.
Based on a poem by diablong buang.

Edit: made it a bit slower, as per someone's suggestion.
Edit2: I'm bored, so I edited the dynamics. Remember, this is still incomplete! I had 2 downloads by this time, but that's gonna disappear. Enjoy!  :D

:-X But now I like it even more! It's a pity though computers cannot put any expression into the music! I know you've added dynamics into the computer, but still I cannot feel it.

I was a little confused about the title, but you did not tell me this piece is being composed based on a poem by Diablong Buang, now I am more intrigued. Where can I find this?

Have you ever listened to Shostakovich's orchestral score to "The Overcoat" ? (this may inspire). When I am confused I put this on.

I find a musical piece can never finished whether writing my own or playing others as I am always changing dynamics, tempos etc. Maybe a change in tempo would be better somewhere down the track when you think it is finished – jury still out.

I don't know exactly what you mean, but I think those practical lessons on composing are included later in my music couse... IF I pass for 3rd year. *fingers crossed*

I don't know... some people can go improvising and composing with minimal formal training... and it turns out fine somtimes. Maybe you suggest this to me because I sound old-fashioned??

Wouldn’t composition come from the heart?

Too simple. Heart and mind, sweetie. Don't forget the mind.  ;)

Wow, thanks. I got a fan?!?!
Okay. diablong buang is my deviantart username, and what db stands for. It's like my screen name. But I'm still shy about putting up poetry on here...  :-[

LOL about distortion. I just put it in for fun. It's plain "Dance of Destruction".

I have no idea. The only Shostakovich record we have is an old vinyl. Its contents are still unknown to me.

That is good, maybe I can learn to play it.

Edit:
Now here it is. All the parts. What I meant by "editing the dynamics" was just making the lead voice louder. It seems I'm not able to change much, I tried to do a ritard too but I think I ended up faking it. And if you notice someting's missing in the harmony, that's because some of the bass notes were eaten in the editing.  >:( Argh!!!

Enjoy! Sorry if it sounds too weird!  :-[

Either I sing solfeggio... or I sing terribly! I'm a terrible pop singer. You know how they try to sing loud ALL THE TIME and modulate higher and higher toward the end? Don't make me do that!  :'(

Oh, Bach is just, either you like him or you don't. My favorite Baroque is Scarlatti, after listening to him Bach becomes easier to appreciate.

Never heard you sing, I was talking about your piano composition. But since you brought it up, by all means put a song on ;D Denza or Massenet would be nice.

I think you are probably right about Bach. Either you love it or hate it. I bow to him (Johann Sebastian) though, he tuned the world up-side-down with his ps & fs. But he just doesn’t appeal to me - I'm more of a romantic, really.

Actually, I did. A couple seasons of American Idol. At least it's a lot better than the local spinoffs and the local franchise itself was the worst.

Hello everyone,

Just a newbie from around. I also got some composition for the piano. The title is "Kulintangan".  The work is currently in progress; however, I posted it here for some comments that will help me gain perspective of its technicalities.

I love it and it is like a kumintang.

I'll post the sheet music of my composition right after I scan it. It won't be long.
Trying to return to playing the piano.
