Adjustable concert benches
on: March 14, 2002, 03:36:58 AM
I am looking for a high-quality adjustable concert or "artist" piano bench.  A brand that seems to be popular in the UK is Tozer. Can anyone tell me about these?  Is the mechanism easy to use as well as durable? Also, does anyone out there have experience with John Austin stools (another English product similar in appearance to Tozer)?  Any other recommended makers?

Oh, this is a great big problem this thing with piano stools. You hardly ever find one that works or that go as high or low as you want. And they always seem to have problems like squeaking, rocking, to hard, to soft, uneven, etc... WHY!!! I mean, man has been to the moon and we know how to treat disease like cancer and things, but we bloody well cannot build piano stools!
No rule without exceptions, though...
It seems, funnily enough, that there is one model of piano stools that is reliable. We have it at my college (Guildhall, London) and I need not tell you how astonished I was when I first discovered this. I will try to find out the brand or something like this for you, Richter.
