MikeyG, I don't quite get it - it's not as if I'm trying to sell you anything. We're offering a FREE CD for download, and are simply inviting everyone interested in Classical Music and Piano Music over. It's a service, not spam!

It's really quite simple.  Your first post was an advertisement, so I assume your point in being here is to advertise, which is spam, which is against forum rules, regardless of the fact that you aren't out to make a profit.

I, for my part, enjoyed the website. It has a lot of info on people I have never heard of (but should know more about). The website appears to be free. I couldn't find any advertisements.

Often, someone on this forum is pointing out that s/he found a great, free website. This is always welcome. I don't see a difference to when the people involved in such a free website themselves make that public. In addition, all the aspiring pianists on this forum can take advantage of that website and can have their cause promoted.

This website sure beats daSDC, for which we see a lot more "advertisements" ;D ;D

It may very well be an amazing site, but when someone's first post is advertising something, it isn't right.  Nothing is for free.

Really, what we're trying to do here is shifting the focus back to the artists and creating a site that will function as a gateway into Classical music. We would love to support young musicians (among them many Pianists!) and stop the infighting - a stronger scene is good for everybody. I sincerely hope this is of interest to the members of this forum.

well i for one am interested in the website

but the point being made here is that you should have at least made a more "less marketing" first post. its almost as if you were a door to door salesman

a more acceptable post could have been (apologies if i'm wrong): I'd just like to let others know of this website (blah blah blah)

other than that, i don't see any rules or regulations stating that advertising is not allowed. though ultimately its up to the moderators.
