My back is killing me, too much practicing on my piano and violin while boredom is starting to
filter in as my mind and body is getting into the depressive mode...ugh!  Plus, I can
hardly eat anything.....unsettled stomach due to stress, and I've already lost 5 lbs this month
which just happened without any kind of notice at all, but such is life, eh?   ???

Too shy  :-[

Say mrmusic, when I first joined I was real shy, but I had to jump right into chatting with ppl
here and guess what, I have met ppl from all over the world and it's cool.  I am aware that chat hasn't been as active lately and I don't know why though, so I am not in there as much, but a few months ago there would be 12 members all at once!  And it was real fun to see everyone chatting about this and that.  It takes getting used to reading and  then typing replies quickly, so my typing skills has improved a lot.   :)

best wishes,

Really, i do not remember this ;D

Of course, not, thal; what I mean, is in real life I don't say much, but in chat when ppl start asking me what pieces I am working on and where I was from, of course, I reply.  However, one
member did cause problems(I won't mention his user name)created such a havoc that I had to
tell him off and I wanted to leave PS for good at the end of January when I first joined,  but I decided not to leave and stand up for myself everytime I came into chat and finally this member settled down.  So it is similar to real life when we meet ppl, however, in chat, you see the typed words and the names, and you do get a sense on members personalities.  Very interesting indeed.....

Gosh, I thought a few days ago I was doing alright, however, the index fingers of both hands
are splitting and being sore, so I can play piano softly.  I have tape around these fingers so I can still type and do stuff.  I am stressed out , tired, and trying to get through each day the best way I can.  I need a good nap now.....

One of the others thereof is "strange", I note...

I do think that Alistair is as much underqualified for such an academy as you are overqualified.... In fact, I think you'd get rejected from such an institution for striving!

The Royal College of Music in London is/was (a) not pompous, (b) not as old as the Royal Academy of Music in the same city, (c) at the time of my studentship directed by a "windbag" only to the extent that he was once a very fine baritone (and a breath of fresh air into the college at that), (d) a college rather than an academy and (e) has no neighbouring charm school; 5 fundamental errors in just 14 words must be something of a record, even for you...

No doubt there is plenty else that you don't know, although you could very easily have found that particular nugget of information from my bio. Never mind. I'm not even going to bother to answer your question, except to say that, by the time I went to study at RCM, I had already been living in England for more than a decade (for what that fact may or, more likely, may not be worth)...

Well, you know now! It's in the section on my work that is on the Sorabji Archive website (https://www.sorabji-archive.co.uk/hinton/biography.php). It does not include the titbit (tidbit? - could be either, methinks) that you mention and the book concerned on the occasion you mention was not about Sorabji but by him - it was his Mi Contra Fa: The Immoralisings of a Machiavellian Musician - which was then out of print but a copy of which I had been lent earlier that day by the English composer Humphrey Searle.

Not so; if you read the quotation carefully you will find that it was "a while ago since you said "I'm going to be sensible for once"". Whether or not you had in fact been sensible as a consequence may be open to debate, but what is not open to debate is that the quotation made no mention of anyone called Doris and I am, for that matter, unaware that any regular contributor to this forum is called Doris in any case.

It was a while ago Doris.

As i have said before,
"A while ago", presumably?...

perhaps it would be best if you ignored my posts.
Should any of the rest of us here follow the same example? If so, there would appear to be less and less reason for you to make them...

I try my best to avoid yours.

If you read my post (which i wish you would stop doing), i was referring to people who had written to me about a particular subject.

I have many friends on this forum that i keep in contact with (off forum) and i do not remember having to pay anything.

Fortunately, you are not one of the people i correspond with and i doubt if you would have time given the time you spend on here licking hinty's backside.

If you read my post (which i wish you would stop doing),
Thal, I hate to make you sound daft, but really - if you genuinely don't want others to read your posts, the only reliable way to ensure that they don't isnot to make them in the first place.

I have many friends on this forum that i keep in contact with (off forum) and i do not remember having to pay anything.
I don't doubt either remark here.

Fortunately, you are not one of the people i correspond with and i doubt if you would have time given the time you spend on here licking hinty's backside.
The decisions as to with whom you may or may not correspond are yours alone, of course but, since you have raised the subject, let me assure everyone here (in the highly unlikely event that any one of them might be in doubt) that no one does anything at all to my backside, thank you (not so) very much.

I can only suggest again that you ignore my posts
Then, as I have suggested previously and it seems that I have now the need to reiterate, please stop posting. I do not want to discourage you from posting, mind - I just want to tell you that if you want people not to read what you do post, the only reliable solution is to refrain from posting.

or even better, go and die somewhere slowly.
I think that the due distaste elicited by such sentiments as you put forward here has already been expressed in another context and thread on this forum wherein someone had made tactless and utterly tasteless remarks about the alleged death of the composer Rzewski...

"Must"? Not at all! There is no need for you (or anyone else) to do so unless you (or anyone else) feels the urge so to do but, since you have so far omitted to tell anyone here about one gag, great or otherwise, to be found therein or to identify it as such, you appear to have some explaining to do and, for the record, "in case" happens to be two words, not one.

Best,

Alistair

I do not know what this means.

Let me try to put it another way. It is probably best for the forum if gep does not respond to my posts and i do not respond to hers.

Then re-red and decide or not...

"Simple" it may seem, but sensible and meaningful it is not. To begin with, you are not putting anything "another way" when you write this (indeed, your repetititititousnes is already beyond tiresome here). Secondly, if you genuinely expect or hope that "gep" refrain from responding to your posts, why might you not feel the same about anyone else's reaction here? (from which, if you think about it, you should deduce something about the point or otherwise in your making any posts in the first place). Thirdly, you may respond to anyone else's posts to which you might feel like responding but, in so saying, I should remind you (as though you really needed any such reminder) that "gep" is a "he", not a "she".

Read it for yourself and count them (if any) if you have nothing better to do than seek to formulate some parenthetical statistics if and when you do read it.

From the above, we are perhaps supposed to conclude that Thal has drunk so much beer that his fingers are stuck above the bracket keys on his keyboard; a sad situation, to be sure, but by no means an incurable one.
