Keeping it Fresh
on: June 22, 2005, 04:03:20 PM
I saw Dave Brubeck perform last week. My teacher was there as well (unbeknownst to me) and we started talking about it last night at my lesson.
I mentioned "it's amazing, 85 years old and he's still so energetic". My teacher said "It's amazing.. There must be something.. something he does or feels that allows him to still attack it with such enthusiasm after so many years."
thoughts?

You're so lucky i'd kill to see him live, where was it? He must just really really love music, i think if you keep playing, esecially writing, you'll never get tired of music. Many of the best composers wrote some of their best works in the last years of their lives.

Cool, anyone else really big play? I'd love to get to something like this, best i can manage though is the little Jazz jam every thursday at the uni local. All the students come down to play though, so it's pretty damned good.

Sonny Rollins was another "big name". lots of good stuff though.
I'm lucky to have that festival in my hometown. It's no New Orleans Jazz Fest, but it's pretty cool.
