Same passage, but different fingering
on: June 27, 2005, 03:43:49 PM
Hi !!

This is more a complain than a question  ;D ;D

I hate when you have to play a passage that has previously appeared, but because of what preceeds (or follows), you have to use a different fingering  :-\ :-\

Infortunately, this seems to be fairly common  :P :P

Interesting... I can't honestly say I have come across that in any pieces I have learnt (which amounts to a total 4.5 pieces anyway).

If there is one problem I have with a piece, which is I guess down to personal taste, almost have to ask myself, "Why am I learning this?", is the endless nonsense of chords! Learning Chopins Prelude No.4.... sometimes I think I'm randomly shifting fingers :/

Despite the randomness, it does seem to stick to memory quite quickly! But the sound or the chords against the right hand doesn't always sound the best chosen to me >_< And I am hitting the right ones before someone asks :P

Make this a "Complain about something in scores" thread instead? :D

I agree that chords are my least favorite part of a piece. I especially hate it when there is a whole section of chords that seem impossible to fit your hands around. I'm much more of an arpeggio person :P.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

It just shows that practicing scales as a technical exercise is largely a waste of time ;D
