What level are you at?
on: June 28, 2005, 05:08:11 PM
I don't know If this has already been done,  but I searched the forum and didn't find anything... Anyways, what level are you playing at?  I think I'm at Level 4, but I can play a few pieces from the Grade 6 level.  Feel free to post any comments.  Thanx!

Those levels don't make any sense to Dutch pianists.

that's because of the wooden shoe approach.  (and they don't cut their toenails)

do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

if you can already reach a 13th at 10, why not strangle me.  that is if you can catch me.  i'm very fast.  in fact, backstabbing wouldn't work on me.  i have this uncanny ability to sense danger around me (from years of living in alaska).  also, i am very strong.  if, for instance, i caught your hand in motion, i would speedily flip you from back to front and back again.  leaving you in stunned silence.  i would then steal your shoes (thinking that it might help my piano playing).

that's nothing compared to the real thing.  have you ever seen a polar bear and a grizzly in the same location?  (you can at the alaska zoo)  they grew up together, but the grizzly outmauled the polar bear.  it's supposed to be the other way around, but perhaps all bets were off because the polar bear forgot he was a polar bear.

ps aunt arctic.  that's cute.  i really am an aunt.  and i just went to alaska.  i think i'll try that one on my nephews.

pss i think i've been stuck between level 10 and higher for some time.  it's painful for my teacher to watch, but quite thrilling for me.  just last year i learned more technique for reaching notes that i thought were impossible (since i have a smaller hand span) and how to play smoother, faster, and with more feeling?  i hope?  (pauses - wonders)  must try to continue up the mountain of hope.  level by level, i will break open the secrets of the musical universe until i reach the top of some pianistic mountain (or molehill).  right now, piano concertos consume me.

What do all these levels mean? *is confused* I'm about LRSM (ABRSM - UK exam board) level, what is that then in terms of your poll?

If I'm not the greatest virtuoso pianist ever, then I don't know who is.
I want an Integra.  1994-2001.   GSR.  If you see one, let me know.

There's this book with all levels and pieces.. I think Jazz Man means those levels.. Think I'm at level 8 or 9, because I play pieces from those levels..

The levels I used are from the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music)... perhaps I should have done some research on what the levels are in different areas.  When I searched for sheet music on the website it told me what level the piece was.  For example:

Arabesque, Op 100, No 2 by Burgmuller, is a level 3 piece.
Fur Elise, by Beethoven, is a level 5 piece.
Mozart's Sonata, K576, is a level 8 piece.

You can find any of these pieces on this website.

P.S.  How do you write accents on letters?  :)

Right now i'm on the ground floor, looking at the tree outside.   ;)

In Windows look for something called Character Map (under Start > Accessories).  You can then copy and paste special characters from the list.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
