Hi Guys!

Does anyone has the information of Godowsky"s Java suite..It sound like an interesting piece.Here is the  world premiere recording, https://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2000/nov00/godowsky.htm

What dig my curiousity is the interesting java cultural that Godowsky intended to borrowed from Oriental. I just want to know more infomation from History view and the  intention of this great composer.Thank you very much! ;)

Think Romantic Debussy, with some more Ravellian effects, spashes of color and such.

It's interesting (and coincidental) that someone mentioned the Java Suite. The pianist who recorded its world premiere is Esther Budiardjo, who happens to be Indonesian and is fairly well known in her home country.

Tomorrow, she's having a recital at the Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (in Indonesia), and (yaay!) is performing few selections of the Java Suite. I forgot to mention that I'm also Indonesian, and it's surprising that Godowsky was capable of incorporating elements of Javanese music (calm, sonorous, and complex) into this suite.
