CMC Canadian Music Competition
on: July 04, 2005, 08:21:59 PM
I mentioned this in an earlier thread of mine, not wholly dedicated to this topic though.  There has GOT to me somebody here that played in CMC (Canadian Music Competition)!!!
I cant be the only one here to make it to Nationals from Canada!!  If you were a participant, which age catagory were you in and what did you play?  Who did you watch and what did you think about other repetoire choices?  I played in the 16yrs category and I played Liszt2.  I saw the complete 16 and 17 yrs categories minus 3 from the 16yrs.  I thought Rach 2 was vastly overplayed, and not played well, overall.  I loved 2 performances of Khachaturian Concerto, and I am now seriously considering learning it.  Now its your turn..... please......

I find it extremely hard to believe that nobody here participated.  What about that Canadian post that had hundreds of responses?  There were hundreds of participants at CMC.  There isnt even 1 here?

well, i got through the bc provincial...
first impression, so many asians...
second impression, more impressive pianists tend to play more unusual things...

Haha! Thanks for the reply!  I also agree, the asians are taking over the country...
I think Rach is a poor competition choice, seeing a 90% of the people who played it placed in the bottom half of their age catagory.  Liszt was a good competition choice, as I got 2nd place playing his concerto!
Anybody who competed this year??

I've never heard of it. So naturally I haven't been there.
